Stay alert for scam emails from fake TV Licensing.
North Yorkshire police have issued a warning to those with a TV licence in York after scam emails have been received by the public.
Andy Hugill, a digital police community support officer, says to watch out for spelling mistakes in emails you receive, for any offers of refunds or monetary rewards, and any emails that begin with ‘dear client’ or ‘dear customer’ if you have provided TV Licensing with your name.
The police advise any scam emails to be forwarded on to the National Cyber Security Centre (report@phishing.gov.uk).
