Patients at two doctors’ surgeries have received an apology from Unity Healthcare after they caused alarm by issuing a letter to patients saying there would be no appointments for a month.
A new IT system is being installed covering the Wenlock Terrace and Kimberlow Hill surgeries. The letter said no routine appointments would be available until 17th August unless there was an acute medical problem. A backlash from patients and from MP Rachel Maskell has led to Unity healthcare saying they will maintain availability of clinicians during the IT installation period.
