By Ray Milligan

If you are a victim or survivor of rape or a sexual offence then North Yorkshire Police want to give you a voice.

Are you a victim or survivor of rape or a sexual offence? We know this experience and going through a police investigation can be difficult. We want to give a voice to victims.

Operation Soteria Bluestone is inviting victims and survivors of rape and sexual offences to take part in an online survey about your experience with the police.

The survey is a national project and is completely anonymous – it will take around ten minutes to complete. You can skip any questions you do not wish to answer and exit at any time. You can also complete the survey more than once, either about the same case if your experience has changed, or about a different case.

Why are we asking people to take part in this survey?

The survey will help us understand how the police process feels to victims of rape and sexual offences. The findings will allow us to make the right changes and adjustments, so we are leading by best practice for our victims in terms of support and engagement.

The survey is an initiative of Operation Bluestone Soteria, a collaborative programme of work bringing together police forces and academics to improve the police response to rape and other sexual offences.

Who can complete the survey?

All victims and survivors of rape and sexual offences, who are aged 18-years-old or older and who have reported the crime to the police. The investigation may have just started, is ongoing or has been finalised. We want to listen to all.

Who is the survey conducted by?

The survey is conducted by academics at City, University of London and is not a police survey.

The survey is anonymous. We cannot identify you. This means we cannot respond to you personally about your case. It also means we cannot get help to you if you need it. If you are in danger, you must call 999.

Please only complete this survey if you feel safe and comfortable doing so. A participant information sheet is available which may answer any questions you have about the survey Participant Information Sheet v.6.pdf - Google Drive

Follow this link to complete the survey Police experience survey (qualtrics.com)

The survey is open until Sunday, 30 June, 2024.
