A woman is currently in hospital after being stabbed in the York suburb of Strensall.
The incident occurred ton Monday morning around 11am with the police being called by the ambulance service at 11.17am.
Police also received a number of calls from members of the public who saw the boy in York Road, Strensall, following the incident, including an off-duty nurse who provided first aid for an injury to his hand.
Police have described the situation as “a domestic incident” and have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the event.
A plea has gone out to the public to ask those who saw the boy in Strensall between 11.15am and 11.30am on Monday to contact North Yorkshire Police.
