The York and North Yorkshire Enterprise Partnership plans to make itself the first carbon negative region in England.
The partnership is seeking support from the City of York Council and other organisations to help our area reach their ambitious goal.
Their plans include some initiatives such as cutting food waste by 30%, cutting car usage by 48% in 8 years and increasing cycling by 900%.
Representatives from North Yorkshire County Council have labelled the plans as ambitious however they do believe aspects of the plans such as insulating more houses should be done soon to help make a difference in lowering carbon emissions.
