It admission charges will apply from Thursday, 1 February. A standard adult ticket will be priced at seven pounds while under 16s will pay three pound fifty
The gallery used to be free then in 2015 following its two year renovation it began charging seven pounds fifty entry but the scheme was scrapped in 2020 following the covid pandemic.
The York Museums Trust said that the current model “does not meet the financial needs of the gallery”.
