York Community Pride Award Winners Announced

A charity fundraiser and entertainer won the top prize at Wednesday's prestigious York Community Pride Awards, held at The Principal Hotel.

A charity fundraiser and entertainer won the top prize at Wednesday's prestigious York Community Pride Awards, held at The Principal Hotel. Ryan Swain, who was born with a heart defect and had to have major heart surgery when he was four, was named York Community Pride’s ‘Person of the Year’.

Ryan, who lives in Malton, entertained NHS staff, carers, and key workers daily during the pandemic with his popular ‘Play Your Cards Right game show. He also helped raise over £25,000 for NHS Charities Together. Ryan said he was ‘truly speechless’ at the award.
