A GP practice in York is hosting two drop-in sessions to promote the benefits of a plant-based diet for people who live in the local area.
Old School Medical Practice in Copmanthorpe is inviting members of the community to explore the advantages of adopting a plant-based lifestyle and consider participating in the international challenge, No Meat May.
The drop-in sessions are informal and open to all, taking place on Wednesday 24 April and Wednesday 1 May from 8am to 11:30am in the practice’s waiting room.
Practice staff will be present during the events to offer their insights and answer questions about nutrition and health. The session on 1 May will also be attended by a local nutritionist who will be able to provide advice and information to those who attend.
Dr Rumina Önaç, a GP based at Old School Medical Practice, hopes the sessions will create a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals to make positive dietary choices.
Speaking about the events, Rumina said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to learn about the health benefits of a plant-based diet and receive support in their journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
“We're grateful for the support from Plant-Based Health Professionals UK, and excited to welcome our local community to these two informative drop-in sessions.”
People who visit Old School Medical Practice will also be able to explore a range of food and cookery books which have been added to the practice’s Wellbeing Library. The new additions have all been donated or purchased second-hand, providing a valuable resource to support journeys toward healthier eating habits.
Funding for the sessions has been provided by Plant-Based Health Professionals UK, who are dedicated to providing education and advocacy on whole food plant-based nutrition for prevention and treatment of chronic disease.
