York Hospital will face strikes today (Monday 6th) and tomorrow (Tuesday 7th), as nurses walk out as part of the biggest countrywide strikes in NHS history.
In addition to the nurses from the Royal College of Nursing, around 1,500 GMB union ambulance workers will strike today.
The hospital has postponed many operations and appointments for the two days.
The NHS is still encouraging the public to not put off coming forward for treatment, urging people to call 111 online for non-life threatening care, using local pharmacies and phoning 999 in a life-threatening emergency.
