York libraries are scrapping all fines for the late return of books.
York libraries are scrapping all fines for the late return of books. It was announced that from the 28th of February Explore, the organisation that runs York’s 15 public libraries, will no longer be charging for overdue books.
Historic charges will also be cancelled, meaning long overdue books can be returned without a fine. Explore hopes this will help remove barriers that may prevent people from using libraries and encourage them to come back and experience the joy of reading.
