York has been crowned the second-best night out in Britain.

York has been crowned the second-best night out in Britain. According to new research, the city comes second to Newcastle for a great evening of entertainment. The study, by training company Get Licensed, analysed the number of venues per head, the cost of a pint and a range of safety issues to rank locations on the best nights out. 

York’s indie bars and night-time safety record resulted in a great score of 8.14 out of ten. Surprisingly for some, London was named the worst city with a score of 1.73, due to its lack of real ale pubs and the average cost of a pint being £6.82.
