Labour MP for York Outer, Luke Charters, has defended his appointment of Owen Trotter, who donated more than £55,000 to The Labour Party, to the role of constituency office manager.
Luke Charters defended the appointment on the basis of Owen Trotter’s skills and experience, arguing that he had helped the office respond to hundreds of constituency requests.
Mr Trotter runs the private equity firm Key Capital Partners and has made 9 donations to Labour since 2019.
Lib-Dem councillor Nigel Ayre, leader of the Liberal Democrat opposition group on City of York Council, has called this a ‘clear conflict of interest’ and ‘another in a long list of broken promises by York Labour’.
