Over 20 businesses across the city have joined the popular wristband scheme offering a range of discounts and offers for wristband holders.

York business representatives gathered at Barley Hall on Wednesday 3rd May to celebrate the launch of the York Pride 2023 Wristband Scheme.

Gayle Force, local Drag Star and first ever winner of York Pride Drag Race was in attendance entertaining the guests along with local magician Adrian Salamon who wowed with magic tricks as well as The Sheriff of York, Suzie Mercer who personally thanked the businesses for their support.

Greg Stephenson, York Pride Chair, said: ‘The wristband scheme has become a staple feature of York Pride and every year it continues to grow. The funds from the sale of the wristbands contribute directly to financing the York Pride main day event, therefore having lots of discounts and offers available really helps with selling them.’

Stuart Jarman, Events and Outreach Director, added: ‘York Pride isn’t just all about one day and working with businesses and all members of the LGBTQ+ community all year round is very important to all members of the York Pride committee in delivering its charitable aims, the take up from businesses this year has been fantastic and we really appreciate all their support.’

Wristbands are available to purchase for £5.00 either on the York Pride website or in person at Visit York Tourist Information Centre on Parliament Street or at the LNER Ticket Office at York Train Station and all discounts are valid until 31st December 2023.
