Network Rail have written to York residents who live close to the York to Scarborough line in the Bootham area to expect noise and distributions for works next weekend.
The work is to manage the vegetation close to track and the work is planned to go ahead from 10pm on Saturday 7 October to 9am on Sunday 8 October.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "We are sorry in advance for any disruption this may cause. However the work is essential, and the team need to undertake the work at night as it is the safest time to access the railway, due to the low numbers of trains that run overnight.”
