A York Primary school is aiming to spread awareness of the use of Makaton signage in its local area of Clifton and Rawcliffe.
Makaton is a type of sign language that uses symbols to aid those who have speech issues and enables them to communicate effectively.
Kath Liddell, a teaching assistant at Clifton and Rawcliffe Primary School, has been spending her summer holiday promoting this particular signage. She has been out in York sharing what the signs and symbols mean, visiting shops, libraries and hairdressers, many of which have displayed the signs in their shop windows.
