Yorkshire Water has said their new project to clean up York City centre has reduced pollution in the River Ouse.
The project comes after water regulator Ofwat proposed £47million of fines for Yorkshire Water for failing to manage sewage spills, discovered during its biggest ever investigation into the water industry.
After a year of employing the use of dosing blocks there have been no pollution incidents recorded linked to fats, oils and greases, said Network Protection Officer Kelly Burke. The project has been hailed a success.
