With the Olympics closing ceremony only last weekend, it is time to congratulate our York Olympic Heroes.
Hamish McArthur, who found a passion for vertical exploration in the trees of his local York primary school, impressed in his Olympic debut in the climbing event, qualifying for the final and finishing fifth overall.
St Peter’s School Alum, Sam Dickinson won silverware on behalf of the city he was part of the incredible mixed relay team which won Bronze in the triathlon.
A special mention must also go to Golden Girl Georgie Brayshaw. While being born in Leeds, was made at York University, where the British GB Rowing Start Programme was based. Brayshaw was part of the women’s quadruple sculls team which won Gold.
