York City are pleased to confirm that first-team manager David Webb was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and has stepped up his recovery from home.
Assistant Michael Morton will lead from the dugout against Blyth Spartans while Webb targets a return in time to be on the touchline on Boxing Day for our home game against Gateshead FC.
The newly-appointed first-team manager was taken into hospital on Wednesday, December 7 one day after taking training at Wiggington Road for the first time.
Webb has remained in constant communication with Morton and his coaching team via zoom meetings and phone calls to provide input on the team, training, and matches as well as keeping in contact with staff throughout the club on all footballing matters.
Having made positive steps in his recovery, Webb said: “It’s been very frustrating for me personally not being able to be with the team at training and missing the Woking game.
“I am making good progress with my recovery, and I’m very much looking forward to my first home game in front of our fantastic supporters.”
