The Minstermen are delighted to announce that Olly Dyson has reached an agreement to extend his contract at York City Football Club for a further two years
The versatile midfielder joined York City back in 2020 on a free transfer following his Huddersfield Town exit and he's not looked back ever since.
The Yorkshireman has played more than 100 competitive games for the Minstermen. He was named York City FC Clubman of the Year last season after making 48 appearances and scoring six goals.
Our number 8 joined after an impressive loan spell at Barrow AFC. He played a pivotal role in the team which was famously labelled ‘Barrowcelona,’ for which he contributed 4 goals in 28 appearances becoming National League Champions after the season was cut short due to Covid.
Dyson played 38 games in the 2021/22 campaign where he helped secure promotion from National League North, including playing in the 2-0 play-off final victory over Boston United.
Last season’s form earned Dyson a place in Paul Fairclough’s England C squad which beat Wales C 1-0 at Altrincham’s J. Davidson Stadium.
On extending his stay with the Minstermen, Dyson said: “Yeah I’m really, really happy.
“It’s been a couple of months where I’ve wanted to get it sorted and its finally done, so I’m really happy.
“We all know what’s going on at the club and that’s one of the reasons I want to stay. It’s going in the right direction.”
The deal is subject to FA and National League approval.
