Team GB's Hamish McArthur (triathlon) and Sam Dickinson (climbing) are contributing to Yorkshire's proud heritage of producing Olympians.

With the Summer Olympics Games opening ceremony occurring on Friday, two of York’s very own are preparing to represent team GB in Paris.

Team GB’s Hamish McArthur and Sam Dickinson are two Olympic debutantes from York who have been selected for the summer games.

Dickinson is a former St Peter’s School pupil and Leeds University graduate representing team GB in the triathlon, hoping to defend Team GBs 2020 mixed relay title.

McArthur is a 23-year-old in the climbing event who found his passion for vertical exploration in the trees at his primary school in York.
