Ollie Pearce opened the scoring in the 54th minute from the penalty spot and Billy Chadwick doubled the lead only 2 minutes later. Adam Hinshelwood made two changes to the starting lineup, with Tyrese Sinclair and Ricky Aguiar coming in.
York City controlled the right flank throughout, creating multiple chances, including a close attempt from Sinclair that was ruled offside.
The minstermen will go again on Tuesday the 20th where they will face Rochdale.
